NATO and Warsaw Pact

The NATO and Warsaw Pact are two organizations formed by the US and Soviet Union. The U.S formed NATO and Soviet Union formed the Warsaw Pact. NATO and the Warsaw pact are against eachother. They had the Cold War which was a non physical fight. It was just a competion of who can create the most and powerful bombs basically. The Cold War was a nuclear arms race. The amount of Nuclear bombs that the US and Soviet Union has created could wipe out the world. Bomb are smaller and thousand times more powerfull than the first bomb that the US dropped in Hiroshima.

Russia has more Bomb than the US. While Russia spends more money to build bigger missles and not worry about the quality, the US spends money to make fewer but with better quality.

Film Lesson - "Gandhi"

Gandhi helped his nation by protesting, boycotting and all with non-violence. He told the Indian people to stop buying the british made clothes and make their own like he did. They also march all the way to the sea to make their own salt because the british taxed their salt. While Gandhi was doing this he didnt want violence. When the Indian people would fight back he would fast. He didnt want violence because his plan was to make the British look bad. He went to jail many times but still continued to march after.

The indians were killled by the dozens without even raising a finger in resistance from the british attack. In the End, India won their Indipendence but muslims got their own country, Pakistan. While the hindus stayed in India. Gandhi didnt want it to turn out that way. He wanted the muslims and Hindus to stay together.

Film lesson: "Mountains of the Moon"

In the movie the Europeans had a hard time going through Africa. It was a long trip and supplies were running low. It also was very hot and people were thirsty. They came upon some water but it was diseased. When they found the first lake some people drank the water and start dying.

The Europeans name the source of the nile river Lake Victoria. That was their Queens. Its weird to name the third largest lake in the world and located in Africa after a queen from Europe. The African most likely dislike the name.

Africans werent up to date in technology back then. They were really poor. The Europeans had many advantages over them with all their technology. They also had more knowlegde than the Africans. The Europeans had the greater advantage over the Africans and conquered them. They were able to conquer them very easliy because of their weapons. Europeans had machines guns and other weapons like that while African only had spears.
